C'Mon BIG Chest

Haha - it always cracks me up when I train with Jon and mid-set he tries to motivate me by saying..."C'mon, Julie, big chest." One time I nearly started laughing so hard I nearly dropped my dumbells. I had to explain that "big chest" to him and "big chest" to me were two very different things and no matter how hard I lift I will never get a "big chest" in the regard that I think of when I think of a big chest. Still, tonight I trained like I was working on my "big chest". I had a hard time getting motivated today. Not sure it it's the sunny weather or the funk I'm in, but once I got in the gym and got my ipod cranked I got my head in the game.

I've been playing with the 10 sets of 10 routine that is in the current Parrillo magazine (featuring my badass coach, Dave, on the cover). I have never tried 10 x 10 for chest, so I thought I'd give it a go tonight. I really had to drop the weight with the high volume and the 45 second rests.

Dumbell Chest Press 10x10
35lbs x 10 x 4 (45s are my typical heavies on chest right now...35 was feeling darn heavy today)
30lbs x 10 x 6

High Cable Flies
30 x 12 x 1
30 x 10 x 3
20 x 20 x 1

Hammer Strength Incline Press
30 (per side) x 12 x 3

Pec Dec
75 x 12 x 4

I finished off with some seated dumbell curls (22.5lb dumbells) for 5 sets of 10. Then some straight bar cable curls, 70lbs x 10 x 3. I missed my morning cardio today (a legit excuse this time) so I finished with 45 minutes on the stepmill.

My nutrition has been good today. I'm still having a hard time getting the carb cycling thing totally dialed in. I'm not getting high enough on my high day nor low enough on my low day. I don't know what my problem is...I think I need Dave to tell me specifically WHAT to eat. I'm floundering.

  1. "Come on, Big Chest". That would get any woman giggling. Once again I'm tired just reading your work out. Hope you can get the diet dialed in.
